Position Title: Technical Services Manager

Starting Salary Range: $53-56,000

Position Overview: Ritter Public Library is seeking a team-focused, detail-oriented Technical Services Manager to oversee the acquisition, receiving, cataloging, and processing of library materials, with direct supervision of the Technical Services staff. As part of the managerial team, the Technical Services Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting library administration with strategic goals and initiatives. A positive attitude and adaptability are essential to success in this position.

- Manages the Technical Services staff.
- Serves as member of the management team. Oversees the acquisition, receiving, cataloging, and processing of library materials.
- Evaluates, purchases, and maintains electronic resources.
- Manages and maintains the integrated library system (ILS) and ensures accurate and consistent bibliographic and item records.
- Coordinates with vendors for acquisitions, subscriptions, and other services.
- Makes recommendations for collection development.
- Provides project-focused support to administration to help advance organizational strategic goals and objectives.
- Collaborates with Public Services Managers to ensure optimal Library operations.
- Prepares and analyzes statistical reports.
- Monitors and makes recommendations to materials budgets.
- Stays informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in technical services.
- Assists with coordinating the Library’s outcome measures initiative.
- Represents the Library in public and attends meetings.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships within the community.
- Leads and facilitates committees.
- Resolves problems and responds to complaints.
- Promotes and maintains a thorough knowledge of Library services and programs.

Minimum Training, Education, and Experience:
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program required.
- Previous managerial and related experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires stationary and mobile activities.
- Must be able to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Other:
- Schedule will include daytime, evening, and weekend hours (including Sundays), and may include six-day workweeks.
- The successful candidate will have excellent attendance habits and be comfortable acting as manager in-charge of the building and staff as needed.
