Ritter Public Library and Serving Our Seniors Present: Bridging the Digital Divide

This special course in collaboration with Serving Our Seniors is designed to teach older adults the skills necessary to survive and thrive in an increasingly digital world. Bring your own smartphone or tablet for instruction and one-on-one help from knowledgeable instructors. No prior knowledge is assumed, and absolute beginners are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Course Topics:

Session One - Get to Know Your Smartphone Part 1
Wednesday, June 8th at 10 AM

Session one will cover the basics of operating your smart phone or other mobile device including touch gestures, placing and answering phone calls, accessing voicemail, and sending and reading text messages.

Wednesday, June 22nd at 2 PM

This second session of Get to Know Your Smartphone will review and build on the skills learned in session one. We will cover using your phone's web browser, navigating the settings menu, and customizing your phone's accessibility options.

At this session, we will discuss how to protect your identity, tips to avoid scams, and strategies for keeping your information secure.

This session will cover why it is necessary to have an email, how to create an email, and how to use your email.
