Chef Bev Shaffer will stir up excitement for the Friends’ annual Chocolate Festival at a free program Sunday, Jan. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Shaffer wrote the “Ask Bev” column for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and several cookbooks including “Chocolate Desserts to Die For”. She’ll share her cooking experiences and tips from her books, and set the stage for the Chocolate Festival, which is Saturday, Feb. 7.
The festival, a Friends fundraiser held during Vermilion’s town-wide Ice A-Fair, is open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buy tickets for 50 cents each and sample dozens of delicious chocolate dishes prepared by local cooks. Then vote for your favorite. Or if you like to cook, enter your best dish and compete for the title of Chocolate Champ! Shaffer’s talk is free and open to the public. No registration needed.
