Friends of Ritter Public Library
The Friends are dedicated to focusing public attention on library services, facilities and needs; helping promote the use and enjoyment of the library; and developing supplemental funding for the library. The Friends board meets every first Monday of the month at 2 pm in the library. Guests are always welcome to join us.
Friends Present: A series of musical events
Friends host music programs held mostly on Sunday afternoons in 2020. They are free and open to the public.
Sunday, March 8 at 2 pm: Jerry Allen entertains with his guitar and also talks about the art of writing song lyrics.
Sunday, April 26 at 2:30 pm: The 80-member Amherst Community Choir sings its uplifting spring show.
Sunday, May 3 at 2 pm: The Alley Katz are a female singing duo popular from Third Thursdays!
Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 pm: Brian Bigley and his family present traditional Irish music, dancing and storytelling.
Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7 pm: The traditional annual Holiday Concert features the seasonal sounds of the Vermilion Community Music Association band.
Every day, you can find dozens of gently used books – some right from the library shelves – for sale at the Friends’ ongoing book sale, located just inside the main entrance.
Annual Book Sale
This year, the sale is bigger than ever, with about 13,000 items! Enjoy the special, Friends-only opening night reception featuring special sales of high-interest book bundles, free raffles, refreshments and more on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm. Join at the door for just $5.
The sale is open to the public Wednesday and Thursday, June 17 and 18, from 10 am to 8 pm, and Friday, June 19 from 10 am to 5 pm. The sale ends this year on Saturday, June 20. From 10 am to 2 pm, fill a bag and make a monetary donation.
