Ritter offers an ongoing schedule of hands-on computer classes. Click on the name of a class to bring up the registration screen.

 

  • Intermediate Word
    When: Monday, September 22, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    In this class, you’ll learn more formatting, including customizing bulleted lists, adding tables, page breaks, and columns. Basic Word or familiarity with it is required. Call the library to register, or register below.

  • Kindle Basics
    When: Wednesday, September 24, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Endowment Room

    Do you have a new Kindle Fire or an old Kindle Fire that is collecting dust? Attend this basics class to learn great tips and tricks to get the most out of your Kindle Fire. Learn to search for and download books from the library for free! Bring your Kindle Fire and questions to the class.

  • Word Pizazz
    When: Monday, September 29, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    Learn to give your basic documents a more exciting look with clip art, AutoShapes, WordArt, text boxes and Smart Art. Basic Word or familiarity with it is required.

  • Trace Your Roots
    When: Wednesday, October 01, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    This is an introduction to Genealogy. We’ll discuss getting started, organizing your information, resources available at Ritter, online resources, and how to use the Ancestry database to access census, military, immigration, and other important records.

  • Beginning Excel
    When: Monday, October 06, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    Learn to organize information using Excel. We will talk about creating a spreadsheet, changing the arrangement of data, and saving. We will be using the Excel 2007 version. Some experience with Word is helpful.

  • Cloud Storage, Dropbox and Google Drive
    When: Wednesday, October 08, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    Confused about the Cloud? This class will explain what the cloud is how to use some of the most popular cloud storage sites. Familiarity with the internet and saving documents is required.

  • 'Appy Hour!
    When: Monday, October 13, 2014 – 6:00 PM – 6:00 PM
    Where: Second Floor Tech Center

    Relax with new friends and enjoy a lively discussion about the latest and greatest apps. We will spend one hour introducing apps for every aspect of life. Maybe you will bring some app ideas of your own. Be sure to bring your tablet, iPad or smartphone. We’ll meet in the eTech Center upstairs by the fireplace. In October we will be featuring food and recipe apps. Please call the library or register below.

  • Digitize Your Genealogy
    When: Wednesday, October 15, 2014 – 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Computer Lab

    You’ve spent months researching your ancestors. Now how do you share that with your family? We’ll show you how to scan photos and documents, then use Google docs to make attractive pages for a family book. This allows you to keep precious originals safe and make a family heirloom too. Bring some photos and documents with you. Familiarity with MS Word or Google docs is required.
