Ritter continues its series of free programs to mark the 150^th anniversary of the War Between the States with an evening with author and professor George Vourlojianis Tuesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. He’ll talk about Confederate dirty tricks including efforts to discredit the Lincoln administration and terrorize Yankee civilians!

Rusty is an adorable Australian Shepherd waiting for you to read to him.
The time slots will be about 10 to 15 minutes long.

Drop-ins will be fit into open time slots on a first come first serve basis.

The Ritter website is currently undergoing a small revamp in order to better organize and display the things you want to see! This may lead to the site looking odd, links moved or missing, or services being down. Hopefully these issues will be temporary and the inconveniences minor.

To start, the Clevnet EMedia site has been added to the main menu, right next to the Catalog link *. Hovering over the EMedia link will display a dropdown menu with our online music download service Freegal, and the EReader comparison charts from our last Question and Answer session. With the growth of patrons using our digital downloads, we wanted to make it easier to find our collections.

Learn to use a Computer

There are still some seats left in our popular 8-week series of basic computer classes which begins Thursday, May 3. University of Pittsburgh Professor Richard Thompson leads these hands-on classes designed for working people who want to add computer skills, unemployed or underemployed people and retired people. The classes meet Mondays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Call 967-3798 or sign up online.

Repeat Performance in Amherst!

Local author Joette McDonald makes a special repeat performance of her very popular dramatic presentation of Harriet Beecher Stowe at Amherst Public Library Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. McDonald will enact the role of Stowe, whom Lincoln called “the little lady who started the big war”. McDonald premiered the performance at Ritter earlier this year. Call the Amherst library at 988-4230 to reserve a seat.
