Our Mission
Ritter Public Library will provide for the educational, informational and recreational needs of the community.
The library provides the residents of the Vermilion School District with a variety of books, movies and music; computers and access to the Internet; educational and entertaining programs and classes; and other materials and services.
Trustees are currently working on plans to expand the library building to provide for the community’s future needs. To find out more about it, check out our Building Blog.

Mr. Van Den Bossche has served on the board since 2006 and currently sits on the Building and Grounds committee, the Personnel committee, the Policy committee, the Building Project committee and the Art committee. He is a lifelong resident of Vermilion, and a graduate of Vermilion High School and Bowling Green State University. He is employed as a high school business education teacher in the Toledo school system. |

Ms. Blackman has been on the board since 2004 and she serves on the Long-Range Planning, Policy, Nominating and Building Project committees. She has lived in Vermilion since 2002, and is retired. She also volunteers with the community-wide Grace’s Kitchen project. |

Ms. Martin began her term in 2006. She serves on the Finance, Personnel, Building Project and Nominating committees. She is a graduate of Ohio State University and has lived in Vermilion since 1992. She is employed at the Oberlin College main library and is also a member of the Black River Audubon Society, the Choral Spectrum choir and the Friends of Lorain County Metro Parks. |

Ms. Gibbons has been a member of the board since 2004. She serves on the Finance, Long-Range Planning, Endowment, Building Project and Art committees. She is a graduate of Mount Union College and is employed as regional gift planning director for United Church Homes. |

Mr. Liljegren has been a member of the board since 1995 and is a former board president. He is a member of the Building and Grounds, Finance, Endowment and Building Project committees. He is a Vermilion High School graduate, attended Ohio State University, and is employed by Kenworth Trucks of Richfield. Liljegren has also served as president of the Vermilion city council. |

Ms. Wakefield has served on the board since 1987 and is a former board president. She sits on the Long-Range Planning, Nominating, Building and Grounds, Art and Building Project committees. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University and works as a parent educator in the Vermilion school district. |

Ms. Warden has served since 2002 and is a former board president. She is a member of the Endowment, Policy, Personnel and Building Project committees. Ms. Warden, who graduated from Kent State University, is a retired preschool teacher, a lifetime member of the Friends of Ritter Public Library and served for 12 years on the Vermilion Board of Education. |
